FilmLog Privacy Policy & Data Handling Agreement

1. Acceptance of Terms and Binding Agreement

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the FilmLog application ("Application", "Software", "we", "us", or "our"), you unconditionally and irrevocably agree to be bound by all terms, conditions, disclaimers, and limitations set forth in this Privacy Policy & Data Handling Agreement. If you do not agree to every term stated herein, do not install or use this application.

2. Local-First Architecture & Data Collection

FilmLog operates strictly on a local-first, on-device architecture:

• Zero Centralized Data Harvesting: We do not operate remote databases or external servers to collect, harvest, ingest, profile, monetize, sell, rent, lease, trade, or distribute your personal information, shooting logs, camera inventory, darkroom recipes, notes, exposure parameters, or geolocation tags.
• Local Storage Only: All roll logs, exposure frames, camera/lens profiles, equipment records, custom push/pull notes, and user preferences reside exclusively on your local device within the application's sandboxed storage environment (AsyncStorage and local filesystem).
• No Account Registration: The Application does not require or offer user account creation, credentials, or remote cloud synchronization profiles.

3. Device Permissions and Sensor Access

To deliver specific offline utility functions, the Application may request access to certain hardware features of your device:

• Camera: Utilized exclusively for real-time luminance calculation in the manual light meter utility and capturing optional reference frames. All visual data processed during light metering is evaluated transiently in volatile local memory (RAM) and is never transmitted, broadcast, recorded, or exported to external endpoints.
• Photo Library / Storage: Utilized solely to permit you to attach reference photos or scans to shot records, or to save generated PDF contact sheets and export files directly to local device storage at your explicit command.
• Sensors (Lux / Accelerometer / Gyroscope): Utilized strictly on-device to measure ambient light levels or device orientation for exposure and leveling utilities.
• Haptics: Utilized strictly for tactile interface feedback on supported devices.

4. Absolute Disclaimer of Data Loss & Backup Responsibility

• No Cloud Safeguards: Because the Application operates locally without remote synchronization, the Provider does not, cannot, and will not maintain backup copies of any data, logs, or photos entered into the Application.
• Sole User Responsibility: You bear the sole, complete, and exclusive responsibility for maintaining independent backups of all data, logs, settings, and shot records.
• Zero Liability for Lost Data: The Provider assumes zero liability for any loss, destruction, corruption, truncation, or inaccessibility of data resulting from hardware malfunction, operating system updates, cache clearance, application uninstallation, or accidental user deletion.

5. "As-Is" Provision & Disclaimer of Warranties

The Application is provided strictly "AS IS", "WITH ALL FAULTS", and "AS AVAILABLE". The Provider makes no warranty or guarantee regarding the accuracy, reliability, reproducibility, or precision of any light meter calculations, exposure value (EV) readings, shutter/aperture pairings, reciprocity failure compensation values, or chemical processing recipes. Any reliance upon calculations provided by the Application is undertaken entirely at your own risk.

6. Limitation of Liability

Under no circumstances and under no legal theory shall the Provider, developers, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, special, incidental, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including ruined film emulsions, underexposure or overexposure of film, chemical processing errors, damaged camera equipment, or missed photographic opportunities. Maximum aggregate liability is strictly limited to the amount actually paid by you to acquire the application, or $0.00 USD, whichever is less.

7. User-Initiated Sharing & Third Parties

When using built-in system sharing (e.g. exporting roll sheets or CSV logs via native system share sheets, email, or messaging), your data is transferred directly to third-party endpoints selected by you. The Provider does not observe, control, or take responsibility for transmissions handled by external recipients.
